I guess my hint that the latter may be the case is this: one player has expressed that unless the the rules are FAQ'd he wouldn't accept them Why does this player care more about the game designer's choices in a game with demonstrably silly rules (poison, anyone), than about the consensus of the group? Thank you mentioning the human element it has a very real part of the problem. If the player just reviewed the rules and concluded that template weapons offer a huge advantage, then I would personally be less sympathetic, because those who live by the sword die by the sword. There is a big human question here, as to whether this player honestly chose a gang based on rules and feel and is keen to play with the group.
